1- Zero killed him.
2- He wasn\'t fixed by Dr. Light.
3- Megaman was killed by Zero, and Protoman commited suicide.
4- Bass killed him.
5- He got killed in between the little gates before a boss, trying to deliver Megaman a pizza.

I have a theory...
The bug that Protoman wouldn\'t let Dr. Light fix continued to get at him until he couldn\'t take it anymore. Megaman finally convinced him to let Dr. Light take a look at it. Dr. Light inspects it and needs Megaman to get eight devices to cure Protoman. Cue evil Dr. Wily plan. After defeating all eight of the new Robot Masters and Wily, Megaman returns with the devices and cures Protoman. During the next several years, Wily makes more evil schemes, and Megaman notices that they seem fairly low budget (Robot Masters that have half the normal health bar). During this time Light spends a lot of time to himself (making X), and Wily works on Zero. One day, Bass is walking around Wily\'s base wondering why he doesn\'t just leave Wily on his own. When a red robot appears. Bass realizes that this is the robot that Wily had shown him years ago. The robot attacks him and he is left dying. Treble walks over to him sadly and Bass tells him to warn Megaman. Treble rushes off. About this time, Dr. Light\'s health had been declining. After he says his last goodbyes to his children, he dies. Megaman buries him, and sees Treble coming. Treble shows him the battle of Zero and Bass. Megaman finds Roll and Protoman and tells them that they all have to escape. They find an old elevator-like capsule designed to hide Light\'s creations if something terrible happened. Roll gets Auto, Eddie, Rush, Beat, Tango, and Treble in the Capsule with her. Megaman and Protoman are about to get in when the scanner indicates something coming, FAST! Protoman gives his scarf and shield to Megaman and tells him to get in the capsule and he will hold the red robot off while the capsule takes them to safety. Megaman argues, but Protoman shoves him in and activates the capsule. Zero shows up and attacks him. Protoman uses every last bit of his strength to keep off the robot until the moniter indicates that the capsule is safe. Zero is enraged when he looks at the screen and destroys Protoman. Duo appears on another visit to Megaman and sees Zero. Realizing what happened, he attacks Zero ferociously. He is about to destroy Zero when something stops him. He looks at Zero and senses that something good might come of him. Using his power, he seals Zero away.

Possible evidence of Megaman and Co. is found in the Playstation version of X3 in the intro to Volt Catfishes stage when Auto is seen in a window.

That\'s a very interesting theory, and you got it all from Auto in a window in X3.

Critics...

Here\'s something that might back you theory up even more. Sting Chameleon\'sstage, MMX1 for the SNES. For the Body part upgrade. Need I say more? However, why aren\'t the others seen in the X series?

I think that if the others were alive, they would have contacted X somehow and maybe warn him about Zero being responsible. I doubt any of the original cast are alive, maybe Wily though...

Maybe that Gaurdian in MMX1 was just something built from Auto\'s remains?

It\'s possible that Megaman and Co. didn\'t know about X. Dr. Light could have been making him in secret. If that was the case, then they would just concentrate on hiding.

[Edited on 5/24/0303 by Dr.chaos] [/quote]I\'ve just noticed a mistake on that! (Time for me to be pedantic!:P) Zero\'s shoulders have the square pard covering the joints. He didn\'t have those until MMX2. Before that, he just had rounded soulders that looked like a normal action figure\'s arm.

I\'m fairly certain X isn\'t the original Megaman.
Vile was a reploid, so he wasn\'t made by Wily.

But since Capcom will probably never tell us, it\'s a good a theory as any.

Heh. \'Cause I happen to be friends with an employee of Capcom. He\'s told me that it\'s true about the original Megaman becoming X, and Dr. Wily was changed into Vile when his body was destroyed.

Actually in the X series forum someone said that Keiji Inafune himself has said that Megaman and X are not the same person. Numerous other Capcom officials have said likewise. Also Vile\'s official story from Capcom is that he was a member of the 17th Maverick Hunter Unit who was deactivated for being too violent. This leads you to believe that Vile is just a reploid and has never shown any indications of being Wily. Also if Vile were Wily, why would he take lip from Doppler and why does he never display any technical abilities? Also if Vile is Wily, why was he unable to stop Zero when Issoc, who many people believe is Wily, could easily render Zero helpless without using any weapons?

If X were Megmaman why would he not remember anything before Dr. Cain woke him up? I don\'t think Dr. Light would have renamed Megaman if he just upgraded him either and none of the capsule programs call X Megaman. Besides Dr. Light refers to X as the first of a new type of robot. If he had merely upgraded Megaman then X would not be a new type of robot and X would not be so hard to analyze since I\'m sure that by 21XX the standard robot master designs are already well known and Megaman was based of the same technology as them.

There is no indication that Zero was awake prior to 21XX. Zero has learned of an old scientist who built him from flashbacks in X4 and this was confirmed by Sigma in X5. Wily\'s identity and his ultimate intentions for Zero are yet to be revealed in the X series. Zero has also never given any indication that he believed that Light created him.

The Megaman into X argument has been discussed in so many forums and all of the ones I have seen have ended in the conclusion that X is not megaman.

If any of the original cast were rebuilt as X, I would guess Protoman since he already seems to have a great degree of free will. He doesn\'t listen to Wily or Light and they are his creators, thus he breaks the second law of robotics. He also refuses to let Dr. Light attempt repairs on him. That\'s radically different from Bass, Megaman, and Roll who all obey thier respective owners, though Bass\'s programming does sometimes conflict with Wily\'s orders but that is Wily\'s own fault.

I stick with my original belief the original cast is dead and the X series characters are not rebuilds or upgrades of the originals.

Yeah you have a good point (points actually) I shouldn\'t give up so easily in these things....

Protoman has been hurt many time but i didnt kno he died.

Where does it give a hint he is dead?
