Halloween.. Wow.. I love it! I\'m 17, and I still go trick-or-treating! It\'s not because I\'m a loser.. really.. it\'s because it\'s fun. It seems as though everyone ELSE my age thinks that halloween fun consists of smashing things, and vandalism... We\'ve always had to keep a sharp eye on our pumpkins (I spent an hour carving mine this year, I wanted it to be very cool). One year, we actually caught a neighborhood punk trying to take one.. dad chewed him out. Tonight, we saw all the police, who were supposed to be patrolling, in the office.. CHATTING!

Part Two: Religious Nuts
It really drives me crazy when people have to go on about how Halloween is evil.. This is a free country, and everyone is entitled to their own religious opinion.. but I\'m sick and tired of all the fools whipping out their Bible Belts and telling me I\'m a satan-worshipper. First: I\'m a Christian.. I don\'t care who knows.. but, I\'m not going to go around forcing my beliefs on people. Second: I do agree with some of what they say.. Statistics do say that there is an increase of kidnapping, murders, and even human and animal sacrifice done around Halloween. However, little kids dressing up in costumes and asking for candy is not something to freak out about.. Let me give you a scenario.. Priss is a seven-year-old girl dressed as a cute little fairy princess, accompanied by her mother... Their neighbor, Jezebel (Take THAT!) is their Bible-beating neighbor.. let the fun begin..
Priss: *knocks on door* trick or treat, Mrs. Jezebel!
Jezebel: What are you supposed to be!? Some wicked little demon!? Your mother has let the devil into your soul! Take a Bible, and an exorcism kit, you wicked vermin!
Mom: .. o.O wtf?

Yeah.. it\'s kinda like that.. And tomorrow, the streets will be littered with eggs, and rotting, smashed pumpkins. Some little kid will cry because some insensitive prick smashed their pumpkin, or egged their dog. A few will escape the horror with a good haul of candy, and parents who don\'t let them make theirselves sick on it. Have fun everyone.. really.. try to. End rant.

Yeah, while the original idea of Halloween was really kinda evil, Halloween isn\'t always practiced as an evil tradition, so I wouldn\'t say it\'s so bad.

I used to have alot of fun on Halloween too. Dressing up was the coolest.

But yeah, Christians *puts on PC cap* ..I mean SOME Christians, think Halloween is for \"worshipping the devil\" or something equally ludicrous. My own father told me tonight that the people who think that are pretty moronic (or brainwashed) since Halloween was created even before Satan was heard of.

As for kids egging stuff..ugh, I don\'t mind the toilet papering of people\'s houses (that actually looks cool sometimes ) but eggs are smelly, slimy and hard to clean off..it just sucks.

Halloween was intially not a satanic day. It isn\'t today, though it\'s lost its original meaning to most. The Catholic church, on November 1st, has a holiday known as All Saints\' Day. This holiday was (and in some places is) a day to celebrate the dead. Lemme clarify that: it was a time to spend time with those people who had died. You celebrated their passing into the second life, you honored them by cleaning their tombstones and leaving flowers, you partied and had a great time around those whom you had lost, including them in the fun.

The Day of the Dead, or \"Los dias de los muertos,\" as it is called in Spanish, is a day to celebrate people\'s existance, to grow closer to the people even though they\'ve passed on. These two days, a Spanish tradition and a Catholic holiday, were melded together to form All Hallows\' Eve. The word hallowed is tied to God. Halloween is merely a contraction of this name.

I may be a bit off on some of these facts, but the premise is there: Halloween is a holy day, a day to celebrate the dead. It\'s not satanic, nor are the people who celebrate it. There is no way to really prevent the eggings, the smashings, or other such things; but you can help the victims of these things out. Happy Halloween, Interordi.

I never said I was the only Christian, I just don\'t recall anyone else having involved in a, well, \"war\" of sorts on the basis of that sort of thing. Either way, Halloween is OK by me.

What annoys me is that Hallowe\'en originally marked the Celtic new year. My family (going back a fair bit) were Celts! By making the celebration evil, they are incinuating that my family is evil! The stupid church! \"Oh! No! It\'s a Pagan! Lets make everyone think they\'re evil!\"

BTW, did you know that \"Pagan\" literally means non-christian? So most of the world\'s population (well a big chunk, at least) is Pagan. Just not pre-historic, Celtic Briton.

However, one thing really takes the piss: Christmas. Jesus, was actually born around June. But there already existed a PAGAN festival in December 25th! And to put the icing on the cake, they stole the ideas of decorating a tree AND mistletoe was celebrated among the Celts!!!!:madgo:
