All I say is coke. If they need any other information on that, I would specify, but other than that, I always say coke.

I hate it went people call it pop. It makes me want to 'pop' them once. :P

It's usually referred to as "Pop" around here, but I usually call it by name. "Coke", "Pepsi", "Sprite".

BTW, it's grammar.

People generally call it whatever it's referred to in the area they live/grew up in. Around here, everyone calls it pop, so..

I live in the redneck capital of Canada though. :)

And by the way, this is a question of diction, not grammar.

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.

Nobody here calls it by "soda" nor "pop". Everybody here calls it by their name, unless they are asking what you want, like:

"What would you like as your drink?"

People who say they just call it by brand name: Isn't that a bit ridiculous? When you go over to someone's house, and they say, "What do you want to drink?"

"Got any Coke?"
"No."
Got any Sprite?"
"No."
"Got any Mountain Dew?"
"No."
"Got any Cherry-Vanilla Dr. Pepper?"
"No."
"Got any Coke with lime?"
"Yeah, but we only have one can and I'm drinking it."
"Got any President's Choice brand cola?"
"No."
"What about Aldi brand cola?"
"Oh yeah, we have that. Want some?"

Seriously, that could get a little ridiculous [emoticon].

And people who call it "soda" are actually wrong, because "soda" refers to anything carbonated; this includes water, tonic water, random other carbonated drink brands which do not fit with a "type," certian juices, flavored water, etc. So using "soda" to refer to just pop is not correct. "Pop," while it does have an actual meaning, does not refer to any kind of drinks besides pop, and only pop. However, it is riduclous when people say they "want to shove a [insert random large or pointy object here] up their asses" or simply "are annoyed" when someone refers to it as "[insert something you do not call it here]." Funny it has only seen this by people who refer to it as soda....

And "Coke" should really start to be an option in these polls, as there are people who refer to it as "Coke" and nothing else.

"Want something to drink?"
"Sure."
"What do you want?"
"Got any Coke?"
"Sure, what kind?"
"Root Beer, if you have it."
"Sorry, the only Cokes we have are Sprite and Dr. Pepper."

Then we had somebody posting in this topic about cocaine... that guy really needs to be shot.....

And like they said, this topic is not about "grammar."

coke isn't correct. Coke means any version of Coca-Cola, or Cocaine. Nothing else. I can be used to refer to any form of cola.

What you said about the different names being rediculous, is why I say something like this:

Me: Would you like a drink? I have Pepsi, 7-Up and Ginger Beer.

You: Yes, could I have Pepsi, please?

Something like that, anyway.

Most of the time I say coke. But occasionally I call them soft drinks. If I'm referring to a specific drink, I, of course, use it's actual name.

Well, I use a different word almost all the time. Sometimes I use soda, sometimes pop, sometimes soda pop, sometimes soft drink, sometimes just coke. To me it doesn't matter, it all means the same thing so I use them all.
