Ok I know this may seem like a stupid question but I want to know if you guys think Sigma is a mavrick or the only sane reploid out there. I mean think about it, in Megaman X8 Lumine asks if Sigma was really crazy. This may bring up statements like \"yes, he was infected by the Zero virus.\" But then Lumine states that his revolts didn\'t come from viral infection. He states that he had his reasons. In the game also Sigma says something different to each charecter to X=about insanity, to Zero=about the virus, to AXL=about him being a prototype. Then concluding that the new generation reploids are his \"children\" and that they will carry out his ideals. This makes me wonder \"what if Lumine was right and Sigma wasn\'t maverick because of the virus?\" \"What if his plans weren\'t about destroying earth?\" It would certainly answer a few questions like why would Sigma just take the maverick that nearly ended his life and train him? Or why would he just deactivate Vile even though the hunters are supposed to destroy mavericks? There are also other statments in Megaman X: Command Mission that made me wonder mabie the hunters are really the mavericks such as what Redips claims before he dies. I don\'t know what to think. So what do you guys think?

Well, I think Sigma is the Maverick. He originally was quite sane, until he fought Zero, and discovered how powerful he was...After that, Sigma has been after the world. Count the times he almost destroys it!

He almost succeeds in blowing the earth into tiny peices in X4, he attempted to crash Eurasia into the earth in X5, you put the rest of the peices together!

Well if he is the maverick then it wasn\'t from the Zero virus. Think about it most mavericks when infected they are insane imedetly. Sigma was still good for at least until 2114. Also I forgot to say something in my post. When a reploid goes maverick it doesn\'t nesesarily mean they\'re evil. The virus makes them act mainly on primal instinct like when a person is drunk.

Actually, Sigma is the only one known to be infected by Zero. The rest were either natural mavericks, or those created by Sigma.

Anyway, I don\'t count X7-X8 as canon, since the creator of Megaman has always deemed that X5 was the way he wanted to end it, and with the Zero series, I make the exception of accepting X6 to explain Zero\'s recurrence.

Capcom said that Zero\'s\' ending in X6 was to forshadow the events to come.

It forshadows the Megaman Zero series. Okay, here is the timeline in which I think Megaman is made up:

Battle Network = alternate universe. 1)classic 2)X 3a)If Eurasia falls to earth then Legends begin
3b) X series continues when after they meet AXL somtime after Zero seals himself away 4) Zero series begins. Now I think there are two ways AXL could have died; 1) X and Zero kill him when he goes maverick. 2)X and Zero don\'t kill him but he dies in the Elf wars by the hands of Omega.

Bah... Yeah, I\'m with Mega X on this one. All this stuff after X5 is just drama drama drama. They want you to buy the next game, so they\'re going to put some kind of cliffhanger-esque thing that makes you \"think\" in it.

Personally I though X6 still kept the spirit of the X series, while X7 destroyed it completely.

Not really it\'s Zero\'s fault so I say he technically isn\'t a maverick just an accidental enemy.

Not past X4, yes Sigma is a maverick.

All the games together, yes and no. As mentioned in X6 (was it X5 or X6?), Hunters were killing reploids who are not mavericks but ones who acted like mavericks (which in that logic, anyone could be considered a maverick). The first time defeating Sigma after X5, Sigma is a maverick. He has the virus or whatever Zero gave him before X1. After the defeat of Sigma (and every time some dumb reploid revives him), I believe that those Sigmas are not mavericks at all. They are programed to think and act like him but have no virus attached. Really, I don\'t know since there isn\'t evidence to support that theory. But, if it was true, it would be perfect tie to why X is so against fighting and how (in the Zero series) the Neo Arcadians think that the Resistance Members are mavericks. \"Maverick\" is just a word/label justification to start wars and kill off (usually innocent) reploids.

I think even though he remained sane for a good while that Sigma is a maverick. He got infected after his first battle with zero back when he was a maverick hunter.{The hunter has becomed the hunted} But sigma can\'t be completely blamed for the orbital elevator incident in X8 though. Once evil, alwasy evil though. Note: when sigma fought zero for the first time, all of the virus left zero {thus making him sane} and fused with sigma, making his real body a portable computer code so he can posess anyone except zero, X, and Axl. This is just what I think.

Play almost any Megaman X game to find out. Sigma is the big bad guy of the series. A maverick is a reploid who is evil.

yet again i believe i saw this in one of the games or heard it from one. But isn\'t jsut that Sigma is evil and over come by how powerful Zero is... and its really the Virus that makes things Maverick... i think sigma not a maverick but jstu a Reploid that was too overcome with the possiblities of power.

Sigma is a Maverick. Why? Simple. He fits the DEFINITION. Being a maverick doesn\'t refer to WHAT you are, but how you act. Sigma is totally into the death and destruction towards all mankind thing. Simply because of this, he\'s a maverick.

True... any reploid who contracts the \"Maverick\" virus is automatically a maverick. But this is because the virus causes them to act like mavericks. Not because they simply have it. Hell, Zero could still have the virus inside him, but he still controls himself and decides to be a goodguy. In this way, he\'s not a maverick.

Now, the mavericks in X7 and 8 were certainly not infected with the virus. (Apparantly, the new generation reploids are built with specialized protection which prevents them from getting viruses.) But because they CHOSE to act like mavericks, they were just as bad as those who had the virus.

So, is Sigma a maverick? Yes. But not JUST because he has the virus, but because of how it makes him act.

Then again, it\'s not sure wether the virus changed Sigma, or wether he chose to follow the path it gave him. Either way, he chose evil. This makes him a maverick.

~Case Closed~

lol, sigma was not maverick until after the battle of zero(when he maverick)after the battle with maverick zero, sigma became maverick but he did not act like maverick since the maverick hunters do not know.:P
