Please take the poll before posting


Recently ive discovered that my Avatar is being used by another without my permission, and that has compelled me to make this poll/topic so we can speak our minds on the subject.

I myself, think it is bad, especially since my avatar that except for animationg it i made myself, is currently under use by one named saitoteam111, without my permission (and i wouldnt let him use it anyways, even if he asked me)

so whatsmyour opinion on the subject at hand (lets see if this turns into a debate topic)

The majority of my avatars were taken from various websites \'cuz I can\'t make my own with this crappy comp. But I never stole an avatar on a forum though...

The same as AirMaster, although the Aqua Style one was made specifically for me.

I did it once but I admit that I was wrong^^...

Yeah same thing happened to me when I had an avatar of mew bouncing a pokeball on its head...I think its bad when they do ask you first.

Oh yeah and I also get my avatars just from pictures on sites too cuz I\'d make one ugly avatar cuz of my computer.

Stealing avatars is not all that bad, but if they asked you first then they obviously don\'t respect people\'s {and maybe their parents}wishes. I don\'t know why those idiots would steal people\'s avatars anyway when they said no the first time.

If you made it, its very bad, maybe you could tell this to a mod

Its NOT all negative, \"stealing\" avatars is advertising for the maker, heh, really, ADVERTISING!

I do not support avatar sharing, especially animations. (Funnily, nobody\'s stolen one of mine... lucky me? :P)
However, take a look at most avatar\'s and you\'ll notice it\'s really just official artwork boxed up pretty. So, while it\'s definitely wrong, there\'s not really enough effort involved in getting an avi that\'s just one official sprite or common official artwork to get mad about.
Many animated avatars, some may notice, are also from personal artwork websites. And if the original user of an avi doesn\'t post the website, there\'s really no way the second person can be blamed.
And we\'re not getting profit for them, right?
But seriously people, if an avatar expresses who YOU are, why steal another person\'s?

I personally think that avatar theft isn\'t the worst thing to happen, but it\'s annoying to see someone using something you might have worked hard to make without permission. It really bugs me sometimes.

The avatar I have is given to anybody who is listed in the vincent valentine fan zone. Therefore, I have not taken any avatars. Though, I\'ve seen many people NOT join and take them without permission. I hate it when you make something and someone steals it and says it\'s theirs. I made a comic once and a kid posted it on another forum, I WOULDN\'T EVEN THINK ABOUT JOINING and he posted it and said, \"I made this from scratch, so how do you like it?\"

Boy, after I glanced at that I punched a wall and left a big hole in it. Though, avatars that you make are suppose to be asked before using. I remember some guy stole this GIf froma site and claimed it was his and ANOTHER person stole it and said it was theirs. Then, the first guy said that the second guy stole it from him and I came and blurted out that they both are thieves and should go to hell.

If someone makes an avatar.. like, actually MAKES it, not just official art.. or if they animate it, it could be considered their \'art\'. Art theft is a crime punisheable by law.. While I don\'t think Avatar theft merits law enforcement (unless, of course, some fool actually tries to sell a stolen avatar) I do think it\'s wrong. People shouldn\'t steal other people\'s wtuff.. =p

I just searched for the guy and he has the same avatar just like you so i guess he did something to steal something from your computer.

Sometimes avatar theft is just as bad as art theft, and you all should know how I feel about art theft.

If someone took my dancing 1993 16bit Dolphins football guy and used it as their avatar, I would ask them not to since it\'s \'odd\' and people might get me confused with the other person. But I wouldn\'t care otherwise..it\'s not hard to animate.
