So much violence in the world today. Movies, Television, music... I\'m starting to worry. Most of the music my lil\' sis listens to has people singin\' in it who can\'t go three words without blurting out a curse. What\'s happening to civilization as we know it? Am I the only guy worried about it?

Well, saying the \"F\" word excessively may make you antisocial, but it won\'t kill anyone. Talking about killing isn\'t good, but it isn\'t the end of the world.

I hate to say it, but that sort of society has corrupted at least a little part of the world. You know these gangs have to get their motivation somewhere. I imagine it\'s probably not listening to such clean lyrics themselves....

While you can\'t really say it\'s the end of the world, I\'m thinking it\'s still an issue which bares a lot of importance...

There was a topic like this before, but it was about \"kids today\" and what brats they are.

Society has gone to the dogs. Most of the people I know want to\"grow up before their time\" if you know what I mean oO.

In other words, getting drunk repeatedly, among other things...

America is always worrying about other stuff going on in other places, when, in truth, America itself is no better. How can we claim to fix the problems in other nations when we can barely solve our OWN? The youth of today is making a lot of bad choices... I don\'t want that happenin\' to my baby sis...

I think that, in some respect, it has to do with parents.. Parents let their kids watch whatever they want, then, instead of blaming their own negligence, they blame everything else.. Granted, the best things aren\'t in the media nowadays, and, some kids are smart enough to know the difference from right and wrong, and reality and fantasy.. those are the ones it\'s safe to let watch that stuff.. But, there are kids that show warning flags.. signs that they aren\'t right in the head. Parents should be especially watchful of those. Parents are becoming less willing to discipline.. if my parents are displeased with me, they ground me.. I see a lot of kids who can do pretty bad stuff, and their loser parents support them.. and buy them those slutty clothes, and all that makeup, and that collection of R-rated movies, M-rated games, and offensive music... It\'s not solely the fault of children.. Parents need to pay more attention to the personality of their child.. and make restrictions accordingly.

This is something I posted on another message board. It is a question and if it is applicable to you, I would like you to answer it. However it is also just my thoughts and views on the world in general today.

I don\'t know about many of you, but I know some of you are Americans, are there any foreigners here? Yes :P

Well I ask because, to me it seems like America is one of the most economically dependant countries in the world. What I mean by that is, if it\'s not profitable, it\'s not worth wasting time on. Hardly anybody volunteers to do community service anymore, because you don\'t get a paycheck. Noticed how I said hardly anybody because there are still some people who are not greedy and actually wanna help out.

But there are other things that bring $ into the picture. For instance, matrimony. Divorce rates are high, so I\'m thinking getting hitched is just a way to combine check books. And then when you get a divorce you have to split it 50/50 even if you\'re the one making the most income. Most people get fucked on that deal. For most people it\'s not even about love anymore.

Commercialism is at an all time high as well. You cannot go a day without being drawn to some sort of advertisement wanting you to spend money on their product even if you don\'t need it!

I don\'t know, I guess what I\'m trying to say is that the root of this moral decline today is money. It\'s ok to spoil your kids, but to spoil them to the point where they don\'t appreciate everything given to them or they treat you with disrespect, just brings a tear to my crusty lil heart. I remember growing up and being scared of getting in trouble, and now it seems that getting in trouble is the cool thing to do. Instead of buying material objects, buy some fucking manners lol.

What\'s the situation like in other countries?

However, that\'s simply evolution. Some things change for the best, while others get worse. Whatever goes into which category depends of your opinions. I\'m not sure yet to say that there are so many worrying things nowadays...

Thats one of the reasons I kinda hate Christmas (Me being an American and all.) It seems to have gotten to commercial, it\'s all for the profit and not the love of other people, same with Valentines day, 4th of July, etc. Ever notice how last month in September how they already had not only Halloween stuff out but Thanksgiving and Christmas? For the love of God, stop being so damn greedy. I tend to not watch as much television around that time of year.

Also I\'m sorry if you are one of the fewer people these days that celibrate Kawanza or any other type of celibration for that time. I appalogize.

To the main subject of that post, there have been studies in schools that show American classes tend to put students against each other most of the time as in \"Try and solve this math problem first\" or \"Let\'s see who can get the highest grade, and then they get a pizza party\" or whatever. While in other contries they have the kids working together to get to their final goal.

God, I love Halloween stuff.. Gutter\'s making me want to go to thousands of stores to buy plastic bats, snakes, rats, and bendy tarantulas.

Anyways, I agree with Shadowfire mostly. When you see a young girl wearing a short skirt and a tube top, with a ton of lipstick on and looking like a hooker..guess who bought her that stuff? Mommy or daddy. Guess who let her walk out the door and go to school dressed like that? Mommy or daddy. Guess who lets her go to \"slumber parties\" where she plays Truth-or-Dare and watches R rated movies? Mommy or daddy.

It\'s been proven that females are getting more jobs nowadays..meaning they\'re not left at home watching the kids anymore. Yes, that\'s good for the women, making money isn\'t bad. But why can\'t they spend time with their children, especially during the first few years when the parent/child bond is established? Why can\'t dad and mom take off work to spend some time as a family?

Here\'s where KC\'s talk about money comes in. America, for certain, is obsessed with money. It\'s a status symbol. So, the more money the parents pull in (instead of spending time with their kids), the more they can have stored away for that yacht dad has been wanting. Ooops wait, more stored away for their kids college education. ;)

Personally, I still love the holidays. But I don\'t fall into the whole \"buy buy buy\" thing.. I draw a picture for people I like/care about, and I think that means more than any material possession I could buy them..

Children today. Are they corrupted? Of course they are, just like their parents, and their parents parents, and their parents parents parents, and their parents parents parents... etc.

The older generation always compairs the new to their own viewpoints, just look at how rock and roll was treated. when Elvis was around, parents wouldn\'t want their kids to go to concerts because the music was so contreversial. Today, when I hear the same thing, I allmost fall asleep. Times change.

People thanks for making e feel so nice since Im only(soon to be 13 in Feb.)
1~I swear(sometimes)
2~watch adult swim

1.I only swear when I am really ticked off at someone. And I just learned the words over the years.

2.The way I found out about adult swim was when I didnt want to go to church one day(it was Saturday)(I was in 5th grade). So I desided to fake sleeping but I ended up sleeping till 8:00pm. Then since I wasnt tired I desided to watch tv to see what was on when I saw Yu Yu Hakusho and so after that I stayed up every Saturday.

You see Im not that bad of a kid.

You\'re only 12 and you curse, Kagome_Sakura? I didn\'t really think you were the type to curse. Then again, I never thought my friends would be swearing left and right like they are. I guess I\'m just a poor judge of character.

Now for something more on-topic. Parents are at least partly to blame for this decrease in societies morals (which I have noticed more and more with each passing day). I know a kid who\'s about seven now whose parents let him watch Freddy VS. Jason, uncut. Anyone who\'s seen it knows it\'s not something little kids should see. Also, this kid was swearing when he was only two or three, no joke! He even knew he wasn\'t supposed to do it, but his parents never punished him so he didn\'t stop.

Parents aren\'t completely to blame, though. A lot of this stuff happens behind their backs and closed doors. For instance, my friends hardly ever swear in front of their parents, if ever. They know they\'ll get the feeling beat right out of them if they do. If it\'s not the parents, then what is it you ask? I\'d say a mixture of friends, TV, movies, the internet, videogames, and music, not just one of these things.

But it is the parent\'s responsibilty to restrict what they are allowed to watch on TV, what music to listen to, supervision on the internet, and what games to play.

So what now!?

I still don\'t see what\'s so wrong with \'cursing\'. They\'re just words. If people didn\'t make such a big deal of them...they wouldn\'t have the same effect.

My dad uses one of \'those\' words, then my mom gasps, then I repeat the word over and over..saying my dad is a bad influence. We all find it funny..my parents know I got my sailor mouth from school, they don\'t mind it as long as I don\'t do it around them (and not out in public) which I don\'t.

Sorry to sound too judgemental, but cursing is just a sign of the human\'s stubborn quality. If everyone was intelligent enough, there would be no need for cursing. We would realize cursing is just a foolish way to put an emphasis on words. Honestly, we could just scream our sentances and have it be just as effective. There is never any situation involving cursing where a simple intellectual argument would not prove more efficient. However, know human being alive is intelligent enough (myself included) to go without using some sort of negative language in conversation occasionally. By nature, I believe this generation does not have the common judgement to realize the futility and stupidity of using these terms.

lol!

Let me give you a quick situation.

In one corner we have Mark, a 32 year old white Christian family man, has a wife 1 son and 2 daughters, and is on an advisory board for a major accounting firm.

In the other corner we have Pookie, a 32 year old convicted felon, who doesn\'t have a wife, but does have 3 sons, 3 daughters, and a new born at home with his mother while he\'s locked up. He was also incorporated with drug dealing, heists, and taking care of \"business\".

Let\'s say these two men are arguing. Who is the guy who is going to cuss more? Who is the guy who is going to cuss less? Does it really matter? No! Cuz Pookie can PROBABLY kick Mark\'s ass anyway, but in a verbal attack Mark would probably be more intimdated by Pookie\'s comments with the added help of cuss words thus probably causing Mark to walk away. However, if Mark is trying to remain decent and still argue, knowing the fact Pookie is boiling, he\'ll probably get knocked straight in the jaw.

It\'s better to channel out anger in words or music rather than in violence or confrontation. I find cussing very healthy :D

Fortunatley for ya\'lls sake, I have what is known as decency and know when it is time to make cussing applicable.

rThose of us that aren\'t obsessed with money, usually have no other choice but to have both parents work. Without a college education, it\'s damn hard to get a job that can support a single person, what with bills, rent, insurance of all kinds, gas, and groceries. A ton of other bills too. Hell... Apartments in the basement that are ratholes around here are 600 bucks a month, not bad the NY people may be thinking, but from the average 40 hour a week job around here, you get like 250 bucks a WEEK. You have to work 2 jobs to support yourself, THREE if you want anything cool. Now you take two people like that, and throw a crapping, screaming, whining kid into the mix who eats it\'s weight in cereal (and it has to be the expensive cereal or their hair falls out or something) and is on 4 kinds of meds for reasons even the DOCTOR doesn\'t know... well, you\'re flat screwed. r
