NewNovels & Publication advice for writers looking to get published Started by Juno on 26 January 2015 at 7:46
As some of you probably know I have been writing for quite some time. I started when I was a child, writing novice poetry, and then later I got into doing fan-fic and RPG stuff like the giant RPG thread here on Interordi. I was actually one of the main contributors up until a few years ago.
Anyhow, the point is that I've been writing for years, and last year I wrote a full length novel, edited it, and I'm now looking for a literary agent who will give me a chance, and hopefully ge ...
Is anyone a big Sandman fan? I have an old 6' tall Sandman handmade sheet that I am considering selling. It was done by a friend of mine about 20 years ago and I don't have room for it. Let me know if anyone may be interested, and I'll post a pic.

What do you do for a living, if your still in school that would count. If you have a job or even career, talk about that. I currently work at a Subway Restuarant, because it's a 24 hour store, I work from 4 am to 8 am. Yes, I am more of a night owl than an early bird.
Next Monday will be a different topic. Dr. C. I'm looking at you for a possible Pin up. ;)
So...the following is a panel from the 'Black Lagoon' manga.

The black haired fellow is Rokuro "Rock" Okajima, one of the series' protagonists. A white-collar worker who gets dragged into the life of piracy led by the rest of the crew that run the ship bearing the series' name. The dapper blonde gut-punching him is Chaka, one of the ne'er-do-wells they encounter on their travels.
I'm not an anime person but I got sucked into this pretty quick. The basics are this: humans are on the brink of extinction due to the Titans, giant human-like creatures who feast on humankind, with seemingly no reason other to kill (scouts have gone out and confirmed they don't need to eat to survive).
What littles left of the human population has been confined to a large city with giant walls that keep the titans out. One day, a ...
Hey, folks. Ever have something happen to you that's too good not to share? Today I had one of those experiences...
So today at lunch, I threw the kid's car seat in the back of the truck, kicked my shoes off, and stretched out in the back seat for a lunch of cheese and crackers, apple sauce, coffee and a Pall Mall Black. Halfway through my food I catch movement out of the corner of my eye, and I look to see a man in the car next to me. He looks to be about 50, maybe 55 and has a ...
So I tried to log into Minecraft this morning and found the Authentication servers were down. Typical day for Mojang right? Well, after taking to Twitter, I found that they took their servers down for patching due to a major crypto bug that was found in OpenSSL:
http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/04/critical-crypto-bug-in-openssl-opens-two-thirds-of-the-web-to-eavesdropping/
The bug, which has resided in production versions of OpenSSL for more than two years, could make it possible for ...
So Facebook went and bought the company developing the Oculus Rift, the VR headset meant for gaming. Zuckerberg claims that they intend to keep and continue it's gaming development, but also further the technology in "other ways".
Frankly, I'm just pissed off that we're gonna have this anticipated VR headset have a Facebook requirement, as if we didn't have enough of that shit all over the internet. I refuse to support Facebook, so if the Oculus Rift requir ...
Hi, folks. Wind here, representing Wind & Company over on Twitch TV . We're doing a little giveaway in the very near future. Because every single one of us loves Starbound so much, we've picked up an extra copy of Starbound on Steam that we're raffling off on Feb 2. If you're interested in your name being thrown into the hat, there's two ways to enter.
1. Subscribe to @WindAndCompany on twitter, AND share the tweet that has the contest details.
Well, since Mojang says that I haven't purchased minecraft and I have sent twice my purchasing ID that they requested I won't be back on the server anytime soon. (Sycamor)
Instead I will be making anime reviews on Youtube. The Anime Fellows is a new type of anime review show which features a cast of revolving reviewers who watch an anime and comment on what they liked and didn't like.

So I'm sending Christmas cards in the mail this year!
I originally had this idea while playing Minecraft, and I'm extending the offer to our entire community. Want a Christmas card from me in the mail? It's simple!
1- Visit this page
2- Enter your full postal address, including name and country.
3- Wait until Christmas!

As the topic title states, some people have stolen part of the International Strategic Reserve of maple syrup in Quebec.
I heard about the news this morning, and was outraged at the act (I take my maple syrup very seriously). However, it didn't hit me until now how hilarious this whole thing can sound to outsiders, like some sort of bad Canadian parody, and now I can't help but laugh about it! The comments on Slashdot are pure gold, too.
Okay I just... have something I need to get off my chest.
I just saw the... stupidest... person-of-the-week, and... let's just say he or she is a little cat-crazy.
I was reading this article on just about my favorite website ever, Cracked.com, and for reasons I can't explain I actually dared to glimpse the comments section.
If you choose to do so, first of all, there are medals for people with your kind of bravery (and lectures for your kind of insane curiosity). Second of ...
An article catched my eye the other day: Google Begins Pratically Begging You to Use Your Real Name on YouTube
Google recently added to YouTube a new "feature": when you try to post a comment (and you aren't already using your real name through Google+), you'll be prompted to switch to using your full name instead of whatever nickname you picked when you registered. While they do their best to convince you to switch, you're still free to carry on as before. That i ...
A special showing airing October 2nd, following the story of Pokemon Red and Blue (Green in Japan). Will actually follow the game closely and use the correct protagonists (ie no Ash). It's something people have been wanting to see for a while so there's already a decent amount of buzz about it.
It'll be airing at night in Japan, and they've specifically said it's aimed at those who originally played the gameboy games ...
Oh, who am I kidding? This has nothing to do with that song, but I love it any way.

THIS is an idea I had a while ago: a hilariously uninspired game character typical of most early games that took place in space somewhere: the white spandex space suit, the motorcycle helmet, and the big backpack.
The su ...
NewHD vs SD Is there really a difference? Started by Doctacosa on 10 May 2012 at 4:08
I'm looking at buying a few series, some of which are available in both HD and SD. The HD version tends to run 30-50% pricier than the SD version. Do animated shows actually benefit from the higher resolution, to the point that the price difference is worth it, or are the standard versions perfectly fine when using a good player? Okay so I've come across a good chunk of free time lately so I decided I'd start dabbling in the foreign world of CHINESE CARTOONS.
I was looking for something still being released that had an attractive visual style. I ended up settling on Astral Ocean (AO).
It's actually a sequel to the series "Eureka 7" but set a good deal into the future to the point where you can simply jump right into it like I did (though I do plan to go back to it later).
A few months ago, I happened to attend a screening of Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan in Japan). It's an anime movie, originally from a short series, that focuses on the perception of androids by humans. The movie itself is pieced from the series, with some scenes removed and a few new added in to improve the pacing. If you've seen one, you've basically seen the other.
Imagine a close future, close to our current world, but where many families have android helpers. These look ful ...
I had some reactions when I posted about Geocities shutting down, I figured this might amuse some people!
This Tumblr account is automatically posting several times a day the screenshot of a Geocities homepage, as it used to exist. Personal pages, fan sites, even a few early corporate display, it has it all. It's glorious! To anyone reading this who has no idea what Geocities was: you're looking at the web as it existed in the late 1990's, early 2000's!
On this lovely Friday afternoon, let me ask you a question.
Let's say you're part of a small group at work or school, of about a dozen. You decide, as a nice gesture, to bring a food item or beverage to share with everyone else. However, you're aware that a person or two in that group won't be touching it, due to a strong dislike or allergies. What do you do?
1- Bring something else on the side to make sure that everyone receives something?
or
2- It's hard to ...
The hilariously named "Commission on the Theft of American Intellectual Property" has finally released its report, an 84-page tome that's pretty bonkers. But amidst all that crazy, there's a bit that stands out as particularly insane: a proposal to legalize the use of malware in order to punish people believed to be copying illegally. The report proposes that software would be loaded on computers that would somehow figure out if you were a pirate, and if you were, it woul ...
Out of curiosity, which hobbies do you practice on a regular basis?
On my end, I swap between the following:
- Playing video games
- Reading books
- Visiting places
- Watching live-action TV series
- Watching anime
- Programming
- Running this place!
I might be spreading myself too thin, as I don't do each of those activities half as much as I'd like. Focusing on fewer stuff would definitely make things easier, but then, I want to discover a lot of things available on ...
What's your opinion? I saw this topic on a different forum somewhere in which case some love subs over dubs... in my honest opinion I love subs more. I can't STAND reading the text!
Hello and salutations, all you good Earth people. For those of you who are not from Earth, Bah-weep-Graaaaagnah wheep mini bong.
I come today to talk about the insanity and unpredictability that is life. How does it maintain such chaos and yet be so perfect at the same time? Barring religious discussion as usual, I think the point of this topic is more to muse on what you would consider coincidences that just seem too...precise...to be a coincidence. I'm not talking conspiracy theori ...
